We’re recruiting Transplant Haematologists to work in secondary and tertiary hospitals across the country, delivering both advanced subspecialty care and comprehensive general Haematology.
Clinical services could include:
- Autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation
- Cellular therapies
- Acute leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma
- Haemostasis, thrombosis, and bleeding disorder
- Plasma exchange
- General clinical and laboratory Haematology
You'll manage inpatient and outpatient services, contribute to multidisciplinary tumour boards, participate in clinical trials, and supervise trainees. Additionally, many centres hold Royal Australasian College of Physicians training accreditation, with teaching and mentorship embedded naturally into everyday practice.

Salary, benefits and leave
Salary:
- The average salary package for Haematologists in New Zealand is NZD $343,500
- Packages are comprised of a base salary based on experience, plus allowances, and superannuation per the ASMS collective agreement

What you need to work here
Registration: Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate. International applicants will typically hold qualifications equivalent to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Haematology), with experience in allogeneic and/or autologous stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.
Visa: Most international applicants will require a work visa to practise in New Zealand. Health New Zealand's Health Immigration Service provides complimentary support, so you're not navigating the process alone. Typical pathways include the Straight to Residence visa for Transplant Haematologists, or an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) as a first step. Our immigration team will advise on the most appropriate route based on your individual circumstances.
