Director Laboratory Haematology – Austin Health

About the role

  • Hours per week: 32 or 40 hours per week
  • Employment status:  Fixed-term 5 year contract
  • Appointment period: Commencing, if available, from mid August 2025

As the Director Laboratory Haematology you will be responsible for the oversight of, and provision of Laboratory Haematology diagnostic services, transfusion services and stem cell services, including responsibility for the Laboratory Haematology services and transfusion services at all Austin Pathology Regional Sites and Point of Care sites.  The responsibilities include the supervision of registrars in Advanced Training in Laboratory Haematology.

About you

To be successful for this role you must:

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Hold a Fellowship of the RCPA (or equivalent) in Laboratory Haematology
  • Have appropriate senior experience in the field of Laboratory Haematology
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
  • A track record in research, and a commitment to this ongoingly
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, medical scientists, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and training.
