About the Department
The Laboratory Haematology unit (part of Alfred Pathology) provides diagnostic haematology services for Alfred Health, including general haematology, coagulation, transfusion medicine and flow cytometry. A laboratory haematologist is available 24 hours to consult on issues such as test interpretation, new haematological diagnoses and transfusion support, particularly in the acutely bleeding patient.
The laboratory services The Alfred, a tertiary teaching hospital incorporating state trauma and haemophilia centres, burns, solid organ and bone marrow transplant units, CAR-T therapy, HIV medicine, and both Sandringham & Caulfield hospitals, that cater for general medical, surgical, rehabilitation, obstetric and paediatric patients. Our laboratory also has close ties with local academic and research departments, including the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, the National Trauma Research Institute and the Transfusion Outcomes Research Collaborative (based at the Monash University Department of Epidemiology).
About the Role
Applications are invited for the position of Visiting Medical Officer in Laboratory Haematology at Alfred Health, to work 14 hours per week (4 sessions).
